Hartley Place has raised £300.42 for the Alzheimer’s Society annual Cupcake Day! We would usually hold a cake stall in reception but because of lockdown, we couldn’t do that this year. Instead, I organised a cake delivery trolley service around the scheme on Friday morning 12th June, offering a variety of cakes and sweet treats in return for a small donation.

All the cakes were store bought in packaging, nothing homemade this year, and I wore full PPE to visit residents’ front doors. Residents were asked to confirm if they would like a visit from the cake trolley lady (that’s my new title) by telephone, so that I could make sure no one had an unwanted knock at the door and that everyone who wanted to, had a chance to give to this excellent cause.

Thank you to everyone who donated towards this wonderful charity and thank you also goes to our residents and Starcare colleagues who provided the cakes to be sold. We have several residents living with dementia at Hartley Place and it is a cause close to all our hearts; I think this shows by the incredible amount we have managed to raise for Alzheimer’s Society today. People’s generosity has been overwhelming.

Well done Hartley Place!
